The Continental’s first trailer takes the John Wick series to the ’70s

We’re fresh off the debut of the fourth John Wick movie, and more is already on the way — though without the iconic assassin the series takes its name from. Peacock just released the first teaser trailer for The Continental — full name The Continental: From the World of John Wick — a prequel series that explores the history of the titular hotel, which plays a big part in the Wick mythology.

The series takes place in 1970s New York and follows a younger version of Winston Scott (played by Colin Woodell) as “he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.” The teaser doesn’t show a lot, but, as always, there are lots of guns.

The Continental is billed as a three-part series, and it’s due to start streaming in September. It’s also not the only Wick spinoff in the works, with a film dubbed Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas, due to hit theaters next year.
