Leesa Deluxe Mattress Review: Leesa’s Most Cooling Bed
Speaker 1: The Lisa Deluxe Hybrid Chill Mattress. Does it actually live up to the name Deluxe? We’re going to talk about that in today’s video. Hey, how’s it going? This is Owen, and in today’s video we have our solar review of the Lisa Deluxe Chill Hybrid Mattress, which is designed to be the most luxurious mattress in the new Lisa Chill lineup. We’re going to have more information about this mattress linked for you down below in the description if you want to learn more, including any discounts we can find. So far, we have seen this bed [00:00:30] discounted pretty consistently, so you’ll definitely want to look if you’re interested, we’re going to talk about everything you need to know about this new mattress from Lisa, including what it’s actually made up of, what it’s going to feel like for you to sleep on, how firm it is, how well it’s going to perform in a few different categories for couples, how much it costs, and who might want to pick one up for themselves. Speaker 1: If you find this video helpful or interesting, give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel. That certainly helps us out over here and let’s just dive right in by quickly covering the policy information for this mattress from Lisa. This is stuff like shipping returns, trial periods, and [00:01:00] warranties. Now for your information, we did actually receive this mattress for free from Lisa so we could test it out and tell you all about it, but if you decide to pick one up for yourself, you’re going to start with completely free bed in a box shipping. It’s pretty remarkable. They managed to fit even king size beds and boxes these days, especially for a mattress like this, which is noticeably pretty tall and has a lot of materials in it. The unboxing process is fairly quick and easy to do, although this mattress in particular is pretty heavy, so I would definitely recommend having a friend there to help you. Speaker 1: It just makes a process go a lot more smoothly. Just a few notes about unboxing a mattress. [00:01:30] This is a pretty much universal experience, although with a mattress like this, it probably won’t be quite as bad as something made entirely of foam layers, especially one that uses a lot of memory foam. But when you unbox a mattress, it might look a little bit misshapen. This is just because it’s been compressed in that plastic wrapping for so long and it just needs a little bit of time to fully inflate. Also, when you lay down on a mattress right out of the box, it’s probably going to feel really soft. Don’t worry about that. After a day or two, it’ll fully inflate. It should look normal and it will be at its intended firmness level. You can for sure sleep on [00:02:00] a mattress right out of the box. Speaker 1: It’s not really going to harm it in any way. It just might not smell great, and it’s probably going to be really soft. So just keep that in mind. And this mattress comes with a 100 night in-home trial period, and the trial period starts when the mattress arrives at your door, not when you start sleeping on it. That’s pretty important. If you decide to leave the mattress in the box for a week or two, that does eat into those a hundred nights, so I would get it unboxed as quickly as you can, but you get a little bit over three months, which in my opinion is more than enough time to really determine if the mattress is for you. If you decide [00:02:30] for whatever reason it’s too soft, it’s too firm, it’s uncomfortable, you just don’t like it within the trial period, you can return it for a full refund at no extra cost, which virtually makes it risk free. Speaker 1: If you decide to keep the mattress though where its odds are, you probably will. It does come with a standard 10 year warranty. 10 years is kind of the minimum you should expect for any bed in a box like this. Some of them do go a bit above and beyond the usual 10 years, but 10 years is pretty solid. So that’s all the policy stuff. More details will be linked down below in the description if you want to learn more about how to actually return mattress because it might [00:03:00] not work exactly how you think it does. Spoiler alert, it’s actually easier than you probably think. So enough about all these policies. Let’s get into the more important stuff like what this mattress is actually made of and what’s going to feel like for you to sleep on. So the first defining thing of the Lisa Deluxe Chill mattress is that it has a PLO top design, which is pretty atypical from Lisa. Speaker 1: This entire new chill lineup aside from Lisa Studio does feature a Pelo top, and that’s actually something their customers have been asking for and they seem to have delivered. But looking at this mattress from the bottom up, it [00:03:30] starts off with just a very thin layer of base support foam. This is really here so that the coils have something to sit on and be stable. So the coil layers actually layer pocketed coils, which are quite a bit different than traditional innerspring brands will use the term pocketed coils and innerspring pretty much interchangeably these days because pretty much no one makes ’em the old school way. You get virtually the same level of support as old school innerspring, but they’re going to do a way better job at isolating motion, which we’ll talk about a little bit later in the video. These coils are also in a zone support design, which means the center third of the mattress is going to be a little bit firmer, giving you more support [00:04:00] in your lumbar region, and then you’re going to have a little bit more pressure relief on the outer thirds for your shoulders and hips, which a lot of people out there are looking for, and it should help your spine stay in a more neutral alignment while you sleep. Speaker 1: It’s certainly not the most sophisticated zone support design we’ve seen in a mattress, but we think it’s nice that it’s there. And then right above the support layer of coils, you just have a thin layer of transition foam. This is extremely common in pretty much any mattress design, whether it be a foam bed or a hybrid bed. It’s really there to make sure that you just feel the support from that coil layer and not really the coils themselves. [00:04:30] And then this is where they lease deluxe chill hybrid mattress gets a little bit interesting. The layer right above that is actually a very thin layer of micro coils. You don’t really see micro coils very often in mattress constructions, but you find it in this mattress and the Lisa Legend hybrid, we should have our view of that bed down below in the description. These behave kind of like a foam does only they’re actually a little bit bouncier and they provide you with a little bit more airflow. Speaker 1: And it also contributes to the motion isolation, which again we’ll talk about here in a little bit. And then the top comfort layer is just the layer [00:05:00] of Lisa’s more responsive, neutral feeling foam, and then you have that really nice quilted pillow top as well. The entire construction of this mattress adds up to give it more of a responsive pillow top feel that I think is going to be pretty much universally comfortable. I have a hard time imagining someone who would try sleeping on this mattress and just not liking it flat out. It might not be precisely what you’re looking for if you’re looking for more of a dense sink in memory foam feel like a Tempur-pedic mattress, for example. But I think most people will either really enjoy sleeping on this mattress or at least [00:05:30] be able to get by on it. In my subjective opinion, there’s something about this particular mattress when you compare it to say the Lisa Superior Chill Hybrid and the Oasis Chill hybrid that’s just a little bit more plush and luxurious. Speaker 1: I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what accounts for that. It might be the layer of micro coils that is the big difference between the construction of this mattress and the other beds in this lineup. I don’t know. I just think you’re really going to like it if you try it out. Let’s move over to the subject of firmness now, and also this is another interesting thing about this mattress in comparison to the others. It only comes in one [00:06:00] firmness level while the others give you a few options. In our testing, we found it to be right around a flat medium, which is exactly what Lisa says on their website. That means that this bed is going to be generally pretty accommodating for all sleeper types, back, stomach, side, and combination. Medium firmness works especially well for combo sleepers and for couples because one person might be more of a back sleeper, one person might be more of a side sleeper, and you should be able to at least get by on medium. Speaker 1: Again, it might not be exactly what you’re looking for. Maybe you want to notice will be firm bed or notice will be soft bed. In that case, you might want to look elsewhere, [00:06:30] but I think that medium firm is going to be plenty accommodating. And then one other construction detail about this mattress is the chill factor. All of the beds in this new Lisa lineup do have a cooling cover, although we did observe that on this particular mattress, it is quite a bit stronger than the superior, the oasis and the studio. You should be able to noticeably feel it even through a layer of sheets. And it’s even pretty close to the Brooklyn bedding. Aurora Lux mattress, which is one of our favorite cooling beds, probably has the most cooling factor that we’ve tested. It’s not quite there, [00:07:00] but it’s close and it is the coolest of the chill beds. Speaker 1: Let’s move on to a few considerations for couples who might be sharing this mattress, namely edge support and motion isolation. Now, I did kind of tease the motion isolation a little bit earlier in the video, and we found the motion isolation on this mattress to be pretty exceptional, even as good as some all foam mattresses in general, beds with coils tend to not isolate motion quite as well as all foam beds do, especially ones that use a lot of memory foam. But on this one, it’s really, really good. [00:07:30] I think the micro coils have something to do with it, but if you are a light sleeper concerned about waking up, if your partner tosses and turns a lot, I think you’ll be good to go on the deluxe mattress, the edge support is also going to be really solid. The coils along the outer edges of the mattress are actually extra reinforced, so you shouldn’t really get any of that roll-off sensation if you’re sharing a mattress and wind up on the outer edges for whatever reason. Speaker 1: So I think it gets a good check on both of those categories and considering just how accommodating the firmness and feel of this mattress is, I think it’ll be a great option for couples. Moving on to the last [00:08:00] really big thing we need to talk about, and that is going to be pricing. Given everything I’ve talked about with this mattress, it’s unique construction and it’s luxurious quality. You might expect it to be pretty darn expensive, and you might be right, but it might not be quite as much as you think. It’s a queen size has an M Ss r p of around $2,400, which is certainly up there in the grand scheme of online beds, but there are quite a few beds we tested that exceed that price point. And once you factor in discounts, it does come in closer to around $2,000 for a queen, which I think makes us bet a pretty solid value. Speaker 1: All [00:08:30] things considered, they will advertise that this mattress comes with two free pillows, although we weren’t really fans of the pillows that came with this mattress, you might be, and that could really upgrade your whole sleep setup in one go. I predict you probably won’t love those pillows that much, but it’s always nice having more pillows around pricing and discounts and other promotions like free pillows are always subject to change for online beds. So make sure you look down below in the description for whatever’s current on this mattress. It wouldn’t surprise me if I saw that price creep up a little Speaker 2: Bit over the coming months, but who knows? And that’s really going to do it for today’s video. [00:09:00] And that leaves us with the question, who should think about purchasing this mattress for themselves? And I think that’s going to be a pretty wide range of people. If you’re just looking for a noticeably luxurious mattress that’s very accommodating with its firmness and feel, maybe you’re sharing this mattress with a partner, I think you’ll probably really like it. If you’re seeking out more of a specific feel in your mattress like a memory foam or you want something noticeably firm or noticeably soft, then this might not be the mattress for you. But I find it hard to imagine someone getting this mattress, trying it out and then returning it within the trial period. [00:09:30] I think it’s pretty fantastic, and Lisa really knocked out of the park with this one. But let us know what you think where sun below in the comment section. We’d love to get your thoughts on it. And again, tons of stuff in the description to help you with your online mattress search, including more info about this mattress and all the new mattresses from Lisa. If you found this video helpful or interesting, give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel. That certainly helps us out a lot, but it’s going to do it for me. This is Owen. I’ll see you the next one.
