If you don't know the name Kühl, you should acquaint yourself. They make some of the finest-fitting outdoor clothes on the market, and for years I've been using a pair of Renegade pants to climb indoors and outdoors. I've found most hiking pants—few pairs are marketed as climbing-specific—to be annoyingly baggy, even more so than shirts. While polyester shirts are fine for climbing, I'd suggest durable nylon pants instead of polyester pants, especially if you plan on climbing outside against more abrasive rock. Available in tapered and standard fits and in a variety of inseams, the Renegade pants fit athletically, but 5 percent Spandex blended into its nylon fabric allows you to contort into all sorts of climbing positions.
