Shoot for Three With NBA 2K24 on Apple Arcade - CNET
You don’t need a killer crossover or pinpoint accuracy from beyond the three-point line to make it in the NBA with Tuesday’s release of NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition on Apple Arcade. If you subscribe to Apple Arcade ($5, £5 or AU$8 a month), you can play this game at no additional charge, and without ads or in-app purchases.
The game was developed by 2K, which has made basketball games since the company’s founding in 2005.
This latest installment in the NBA 2K franchise brings back game modes like The Association, where you can manage your favorite NBA team. In My Career mode you can create your own player, sign endorsement deals with popular sportswear brands like Nike, Adidas and Jordan, and rise from NBA rookie to legendary player.
If you want to just play a quick game against the computer or your friend online — or you want to practice moves — you can do that in Play Now mode.
And if you want to build a dream team with players like Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson, head over to The Greatest mode. I don’t think Jordan and Iverson would get along too well after Iverson’s crossover, but that’s beside the point.
The game is also compatible with Xbox and PlayStation DualShock controllers. So if you’re having issues playing with the touchscreen controls — I definitely was — you can connect whichever controller you have lying around.
You can access this game, and many others, in Apple Arcade for $5 a month, or $60 annually. You can also try Apple Arcade for free for one month with your first sign-up, or you can get a three-month free trial when you buy a new Apple device. To access Apple Arcade, open the App Store on your iOS device and tap the joystick in the menu bar.
